UPSC has issued CPF (AC) 2013 Exam Notification for 424 Assistant Commandants (AC) recently. This advertisement (notice no. 10/2013-CPF) has been published on leading national/regional dailies as well as in Employment News/Rozgar Samachar dated 6th July, 2013. The Assistant Commandant (AC) vacancies are for the four Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF): BSF, CRPF, CISF & ITBP. As per the notification, last date to apply online for UPSC CPF (AC) 2013 Exam is 5th August and the exam would be conducted on on 20th October, 2013.

Let us begin this with an introduction on what is CPF, also called as CAPF.
What is Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF)?
Central Armed Police Forces of Govt of India consists of following eight police forces:
Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)
Border Security Force (BSF)
Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP)
Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)
Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)
Railway Protection Force (RPF)
National Security Guards (NSG)
Special Protection Group (SPG)

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) CAPF exam for Assistant Commandants in the first five police forces is conducted every year in the month of October/November, notification for which comes out in the month of June/July.
A point to note is that although above eight police forces constitutes CAPF, UPSC CPF exam is conducted combinedly for the four police forces as given below.

CPF (AC) 2013 Exam Vacancy:
As said, there are 424 Assistant Commandant (AC) vacancies. You can find police force-wise vacancies of CPF AC 2013 exam as given in the table at left.
CPF Exam Statistics- How tough it is:
As you can see from the statistics at right – the CPF exam is indeed competitive: only about 2.0 persons per hundred who appeared in the CPF written exam gets to appear in Interview. But once if you reach the Interview stage, the prospect is much brighter: close to 45 per hundred who appears in the interview is selected. But most of the applicant actually never appears in the exam after applying for UPSC CPF exam, as you can see - only about 56% of those who applies, actually appears in the exam. So most of your competitors are eliminated in the application stage only.
Selection Process for CAPF Assistant Commandants:
Selection Process for Assistant Commandants in CAPF consists of a 450 mark written test followed by Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests/Medical Standards Tests and than Interview/Personality Test of 150 marks. CPF (AC) 2013 Exam Eligibility:
Age eligibility:
Min. 20 yrs & Max. 25 yrs as on 1st August of the exam year i.e. on 01/08/2013 for CPF 2013
(DOB not earlier than 2nd August, 1988 and not later than 1st August, 1993)..
(DOB not earlier than 2nd August, 1988 and not later than 1st August, 1993)..
Academic eligibility:
A degree from a recognised University or equivalent.
Physical Standards eligibility:
You need to have minimum Physical Standards as given in the notification.
Female candidates can not apply for BSF and ITBP.
CPF AC Exam 2013 Online Form:
You can apply for CPF Exam 2013 only Online. There is no Offline Application Form for CPF Exam 2013. How to apply for CPF Exam 2013 has been given very clearly in section: "5. HOW TO APPLY" in page:2 of the notification. Go through it carefully and fill the application form.

CPF AC Exam 2013 Call letter/Admit Card:
Your call letter for CPF (AC) Exam 2013 would not be sent to you but you have to download the same from UPSC website from section "What's New". These call letters are called E-admission Certificate by UPSC and would be made available for downloading three weeks before the exam (i.e. from around 1st October, 2013)
